Found these comics on pintrest and I’m squealing like a little girl! Finally I’m not alone. I’ve literally every day have heard this since embracing my curls. Or people telling me I have white people hair. This one is the story of my life..the struggle.
All hair is good hair . This is coming from a black dark skin girl with 3c/4a hair. I hated when my friends said I can go natural I have good hair and when stylists at the salon tell me I have such soft good hair smh .
I’m in middle school and I am friends with all white girls with straight, perfect, shiny hair. I used to hate my hair so much I wore my hair in a braid EVERY day for like 3 years it was bad. I thought my hair was ugly because it wasn’t straight and managable like theirs. And even recently since I’ve worn it out a little more I’ve gotten comments like:
Oh your hair is so puffy put it away
Wow! (straight haired girls say) I feel you, my hair is curly and unmanageable too.
I would constantly want to straighten it, hide it, not care for it etc;
but your blog has made me feel more confident about my wild curls. I can see their beauty now despite all the incidents and stories where I wanted to snap and just relax it. It’s so hard to embrace your curls when “beauty” these days is straight hair and no flyaways but not for me anymore! EMBRACE THE CURLS!!
Screw them I love my curls so much,I can’t stop touching it and feeling it,I have to force myself to put it in braids so I don’t mess with it lol,NOBODY can’t tell me anything about my hair!
I like this a lot! My sister definitely has “good” hair. She can put water on her hair and her curls are a lot looser than mine. When I first cut off my locs, I was disappointed because my hair is not like hers, so I relaxed my hair and enjoyed that for a while. I do like relaxed hair: it is much easier to maintain! I have been natural for almost a year. Taking care of my hair is a lot different from what my sister has to do, but I’ve learned to do right by my hair, so I actually like it as it is this time around.
I guess you did not read the article,every hair is “good” hair,I admire every hair texture and I’m also crazy about my texture and happen to be 4b/4c which is very kinky!
Woooow this is so true. I have had this happen. Its like some just dont believe that we can have curly hair without just adding water to refresh or it being ‘good hair’.
