I love the Wachowskis. I’ve seen all their work save “Cloud Atlas,” which I will get to one of these days. Their movies take chances, and “Jupiter Ascending” has a wonderful feel to it.
Cloud Atlas is simply AMAZING. BUT, you need to see it at least twice. I mean… you can watch the Matrixes 20 times and still find some new clue the Wachowskis had left behind, but Cloud Atlas… you REALLY need to see it twice to get… SOMETHING haha π But once you get it, you’re just in awe !
I figured from what I’d heard of Cloud Atlas that it wasn’t going to be something you watched once and “got”, you had to go in it and play attention, and you’d need more than one viewing. Everything I saw about it looked incredible, and you have to give credit to Andy and Lana and Tom Tykwer for tackling something so complex.
God yes ! You’ll see, it’s like a symphony. So perfectly orchestrated it’s beyond belief, and yes, THREE film directors working together on a movie that covers like… 500 years… I mean. Talk about some skills and vision !
They have it. Tykwer’s “Run, Lola, Run” was another movie that had so many different points of view, and “Perfume” was another great movie with plenty of vision and strong acting. Put that together with the creators of “The Matrix” and “Speed Racer”, and you have the ingredients for a masterpiece.
Perfume…! That was something too… I only remember the music of Run Lola Run though, I don’t think I’ve seen it.
Well, now you know what you have to do ! π
I’ve going to see it one of these days, I have to. I was sorry I wasn’t able to get into the theaters when it was out–which wasn’t all that long. It seemed like it had come and gone after three weeks.
