I completely know how you feel! I was the same! However, these days I’ve been obsessed with anime. But, my real life problems still exist in the fictional world.
I know the cartoon reference is about Transformers but I will share with you my cartoon crushes: Sonic the Hedgehog *swoons* and Alvin (yes, from the cartoon, The Chipmunks). I was determined that when I grew up, I would marry Alvin and be Mrs. Alvin Chipmunk!!! xD
I still get excited whenever I hear either theme song!! (I think I’m more hype about the Sonic theme though…) LOL!!
Hey Gyrl, I had it bad for Megatron!!! I still represent Decepticon as a grown azz woman. I always found cartoons more attractive than “real” boys, lol. Embrace your inner geek love!!!
I just discovered your blog after someone shared your “30 years of little girls learning dance moves (…)” in a feminist group on Facebook. I have read all of two posts and the “About”, and I LOVE it. ๐ I’m tall myself (6 foot nothing), but as I’m living in Norway where we’re all viking giants, that’s never been much of a big deal. ๐ Yes, I got bullied at school, and comments included my height, but I never thought much of it. Might of course be because I’m somewhat dwarfed by my dad (6′ 4″), but as you say, being tall is what I am. It’s natural for me. Okay, way too long introduction there. What I meant to say about this post in particular was that I recognise the doing nice things for your partner-thing. I usually wake my husband up with a cup of tea before going to work. I don’t “wait on him”, but that means a lot to him and is no biggie for me. So yeah. Nice things. ๐
I felt this way when I heard a little about the fiancรฉe-making-sandwiches thing that so many people have so many strong opinions about (do you know the thing I mean?).
And I always think too: people do all sorts of boring/menial/tedious tasks during their workday, for their boss (ultimately for m-o-n-e-y) – but get all up in arms when someone wants to do similar things for the person they love.
Anyway –
~I *really* like your site and your work.
~The photographs of you as a little girl were beautiful. (Those are the only photographs I’ve seen of you I’ve seen so far as I’ve been reading through your posts in a marathon “new favorite blog” session this morning.)
~I requested Transformers on a regular basis while I was in elementary school. My parents did not take my request seriously.
~I am, actually, quite the Lady MacGyver, but I’d iron a stack of shirts for my significant other, no problem.
I SO agree with you when you say some people spend their life at work trying to please people they don’t even know and then don’t understand that you give all you’ve got to the person who shares your life ! Priorities…
Anyway-
– Thank you very much ๐
– Thank you again ! Although the short haired version of me pic only brings back bad memories lol
– HAHAHAHAHA, it’s NOT TOO LATE ! You can buy yourself your very own Optimus Prime TODAY !
– Well you’re the perfect woman then ๐
