(Just thought I’d start by saying I’m white and, yes, I have crazy curly hair. Not an afro, but it can get like that if I brush it) One of my friends was actually complaining to me about her straight hair and then, on top of it, said “I wish I could spend as little time on my hair as you do.” I nearly exploded.
Instead, I said, “Do you want to know what I do to my hair in the morning?”
“Sure,” she said.
I said, “First, I rinse out my hair to get all of the product out of it from the day before. Then, if it’s been a while, I do a ACV rinse, which I then rinse out. Then I put in one conditioner, which I massage into my hair and scalp. I rinse it out. Then I put in ANOTHER conditioner which I let sit in my hair while I do everything else in the shower. After I’ve washed, shaved, etc., I turn the temperature done low, to the point that it’s almost too cold to shower in. I bend over and rinse out my hair, trying not to run my fingers through it. Then, I whip my hair back. I get out of the shower, and before I do anything else, I put in a leave in conditioner. I scrunch it into my sopping wet hair, resisting the urge to just run my fingers through it. I then take a really old towel, so old all of the fuzz has worn off, and I scrunch my hair again to get most of the water out. Then I scrunch in a gel. After that. I use the ‘plopping’ method to put my hair up so that I can dry off, moisturize, and get dressed without my wet hair getting everywhere. Finally, I take my hair down and let it finish up by air drying.”
I’m white, not mixed, not black, and I can relate to every post on this website. Please don’t lean on stereotypes and assume that just because I’m white and complain about my (extremely curly, dry, frizzy, and tangled) hair, that you “hate” me.
Hate you ?? Girl, this isn’t an “only for black and mixed” site or anything ! I’m so mixed sometimes I don’t even know where I belong or how to identify myself so there can’t be a place where you’ll find a more open mind than here 🙂 You have the RIGHT to complain about your hair too lol (although I strongly encourage you to love it too 😉 ) Welcome !!!
The other day my friend told me that her hair is SUPER SUPER frizzy and every time she runs her fingers through it two or three hairs fall out. I just looked at her sarcastically.

“You do that?”
“Every morning.”

I hate when white ladies complain about their hair. They don’t know what it’s like for mixed people and blacks. Most of us have curly hair.
